12/22/2013 Grown up a bitNow she's real close to crawling. She moves forward for about 3 feet when I put an object of her interest. 12/22/2013 Baby-safe zoneNina gained more surface to explore in our small kitchenette. We filled half the space with soft foamcore mattress. We'll see how long this will last. 12/12/2013 Feeling with handsNina has been in a phase of rapid development. At 6 am, I wake up and find her hugging a stuffed ducky, tuckling to a stuffed chicken in a crib, rolling all over herself. At one time, she extended her arms and arched her back, and reaching to the railing! She sure takes her gym class while she sleeps. One thing we've noticed is that she likes to feel the texture of different materials with her palms. I love seeing her looks sophisticated while she does that. I used to, actually still like to touch a soft, often worn cotton fabric with my hand and lips. That really comforts me, as well. 12/10/2013 DIY baby shower gift: Hand-made bibsThis year has been a huge baby boom around me. This year so far I've attended 5 baby showers including mine. And there's another one coming up this weekend. This one is going to be for a twin boys of our friend Olivia and Pete! Here's 2 sets of bibs I made for them. The bandana type has elephant prints, giving a little South Asian flavor to it. It's reversible. The other one has a classic bib shape with American panda print. I made one extra for my baby, too. 12/10/2013 DIY: Baby Shower Wrapping PaperIt is December, and it's Christmas time everywhere. I had an oversized gift to wrap for a baby shower. I went to few stores to find a wrapping paper for baby shower. But had no luck. So I decided to go free style on that, with some help from my babe. This is not the prettiest paper, but I hope it carries a spirit of the baby shower. 12/4/2013 Mama's get togetherToday I visited Akane, the mother of 2 months old baby boy, Louie in Williamsburg. I took Ai, the mother of 7 weeks old baby girl, Miko with me. For the duration of staying, babies were good, and we were able to catch up and exchange vital information. I feel lucky that quite few of my girl friends are having baby around the same time. It was some task to drive with 2 infants in the back seat. I'm glad that everything went alright. No tears during the stay. Nina fell asleep on the ride both ways nicely. This is another thing I've noticed her changing lately. It's such a pleasure to see her growing up in a daily basis. 12/2/2013 5 months old nicenessToday was her 5 months old birthday. Nina seems to have grown up a lot since this past Thanksgiving. She interacted with many loving people and behaved nicely. She now eats solid food like a champion. Today, she ate 1/2 avocado mashed and thinned with breast milk, then finally finished her bottle without any tear. She took a nap in a stroller while I went out for grocery shopping,. Then she took another nap which lasted over an hour in her crib. Overall the fussiness has subsided remarkably. As for physical, she's on the verge of crawling, able to scoop forward, but not being able to coordinate her arms and legs yet. She's long been a pro at rolling over onto her back. But now she is getting a hang of rolling back onto her stomach as well. She can lean her upper body, reach, grub the object and put it to her mouth. She appears to hold us back when we hold her.
